Stained Glass Church Windows

When glass is painted with silver stain and then fired, it creates a ruffle in the clarity of glass providing an unclear vision. This causes the glass subjected to such action to take a gold/yellow/brown tinge. Such tinged glass is called stained glass. Stained glass is also recognized as a type of fine art and many art museums display it. Stained glass is segregated into various categories, primarily based on its segmented appearance and specific coloring. It also requires supreme the engineering skills necessary to assemble the piece so that it is capable of supporting its own weight and (for a window) surviving the associated elements.

So pronounced has been the effect of stained glass, its designs and effects on an onlookers mind, when considered in reference to its artistic reference of use in churches that I cannot stop dedicating this section to it. During my childhood days, despite my aversion to Sunday masses because of the seriousness in the atmosphere, I always had an underlying enthusiasm to go to the church and get lost in deciphering the designs in glass above the portraits of each of the gospel. The beauty and sheer elegance of  the beautiful windows was just one reason why used to sneak to the church after school when it was the most serene and calm allowing my imagination to take me on a wild rollercoaster ride.

The silence and calm atmosphere in the church, surrounded by stained glass windows, it just gave me a reason to visit the church all the more and later on my parent devout Catholics, initially puzzled at my aversion to masses, were even more flabbergasted at my sudden interest and evident excitement in visiting the church. The colored light coming through the stained glass church windows seemed top transform the entire scenario intro a fairytale land and I was making my own make believe reality to suit my imagination.
